Treating Ringworm With Lemon Juice

Ringworm is a skin infection caused by fungus. It thrives well on warm and moist environments, affects both genders equally and all ages. Ringworm infections are so common such that it is believed that everyone gets the infections at least once during lifetime. A circular reddish scaly patch eventually develops from a small whitish spot after ringworm infection.  These lesions on the surface of the skin are itchy, ugly and very irritating. They are therefore very uncomfortable and highly contagious.

Seeing your physician is important for ringworm diagnosis. There are also a number of prescription medications that your physician can offer. Over-the-counter medications are also available in the market today that can be used t o treat ringworm infections. It is also good to realize that there are also traditional herbs and concoctions that can also be used as treatment options for ringworm infections. However, these treatment options require time and resources to ensure that ringworms are treated and cured fully.

Prescription medications and over-the-counter remedies take at least three weeks for results to be seen while more than this is taken in a case of a severe ringworm attack.  Herbal treatments are a little more difficult and less certain in results. Some concoctions may be dangerous as well as lead to side effects. This is without mentioning that some of these treatment options may be costly. They may also be difficult to apply.

Lemon juice as a treatment option for ringworm infections is cheap, readily accessible and takes only an approximate of five days. It is a natural remedy and therefore suitable for all individual ringworm infections and very effective. Citric acid that is available on the lemons is the one that will be directly responsible for the complete eradication of ringworms leading to healing. It also helps to dry out the infection as well as reducing the chances of a scar formation.

The procedure used in ringworm treatment using lemon juice is simple and anyone can follow successfully. The first step will be to look for a lemon fruit that you will cut into pieces. Using the pieces that you have cut, gently rub them on the affected area. Depending on the severity of the ringworm infection, rub lemon juice on the affected area once or twice daily for a period of five to six days.

You will notice that ringworm infections will be gone within these days. However, you should continue applying lemon juice for some additional days if the infection is critically serious.
